Austin/Travis County Reentry Roundtable

The Austin/Travis County Reentry Roundtable is a collaboration between formerly incarcerated residents of Austin and other community members to stregthen programs and efforts related to helpfully and healthfully reintegrate former prisoners into the community. The Roundtable understands that this work takes the support and work of the whole community, and have created many resources and taskforces to that end.

Big Bend After Reentry Coalition (BBARC)

"The Big Bend A.F.T.E.R. Reentry Coalition is a coalition of individuals and groups united to increase public safety + reduce recidivism through collaborating and establishing community partnerships, identifying and providing services to inmates and formerly incarcerated people, empowering them to become productive, self-sufficient members of the community." BBARC was established in 2012.

Central Arkansas ReEntry (CARE) Coalition

"Central Arkansas ReEntry Coalition is a group of concerned agencies and citizens which began working working collaboratively in 2009 to assist citizens returning from incarceration to Lonoke and Pulaski Counties as they reenter society and reconnect with family while starting over in order to lead productive lives ... The Coalition’s Strategic Plan calls for changing prejudice and fear by helping society see returning citizens as humans with dignity, feelings, and rights as a major goal for the coalition.

I Did the Time.

I Did the Time is a re-entry advocacy organization, led by formerly incarcerated people and their families. Their work "supports individuals and families who are working to overcome barriers associated with past offenses with political advocacy and organizing." In particular, I Did the Time is focused on amending Washington state's Freedom from Discrimination Law to include those who have been formerly incarcerated. 

I Did the Time. is a project of Layne Pavey, 2016 JustLeadershipUSA Fellow.

Life After Justice Center

The Life After Justice Center is an advocacy organization for those who have been wrongfully convincted. Started by two exonerees, the program seeks to provide services and programs for those who have been released after being wrongfully convicted. From the website: "Exonerees aren’t even afforded the same re-entry services that parolees receive. Despite being innocent, these men and women are typically given nothing more than a pair of clothes and a bus pass when they’re released back onto the streets ... Life After Justice works to right this wrong."
